Node.js Backend Developer, Realtime Systems

About the Role

We are looking for a strong Node.js Backend Developer to design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems that support real-time applications, operational workflows, and high-availability platforms.

This role is ideal for someone experienced in Node.js, MySQL, Redis, sockets, API planning, and production systems built for high user volume. You should be comfortable translating real business workflows into reliable backend architecture, building for scale, and thinking beyond just writing code.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain backend services using Node.js
  • Plan and develop REST APIs and backend architecture for operational and customer-facing systems
  • Build and support realtime features using WebSockets / socket-based systems
  • Use Redis for caching, queues, pub/sub, session handling, and performance optimization
  • Design and manage MySQL databases, schemas, and query structures for reliability and scale
  • Optimize backend performance for high concurrent user volume
  • Support high-availability deployments with reliability, uptime, redundancy, and fault tolerance in mind
  • Translate business and workflow requirements into practical system design
  • Troubleshoot backend, database, and integration issues in live environments
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and developers to build systems that are stable, scalable, and operationally effective

Requirements

  • Strong experience with Node.js backend development
  • Strong working knowledge of MySQL
  • Experience designing and building REST APIs
  • Experience with Redis
  • Experience with WebSockets / realtime socket-based systems
  • Experience handling high user volume, concurrency, and backend performance challenges
  • Familiarity with high-availability deployments and production reliability
  • Strong understanding of backend architecture, scalability, and performance optimization
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to think structurally
  • Able to work independently and take ownership of backend systems

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with queues, caching, pub/sub, and distributed backend patterns
  • Familiarity with load balancing, horizontal scaling, failover, and resilience
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and production debugging
  • Experience integrating backend systems with mobile apps, internal tools, or third-party services
  • Ability to understand business workflows and design systems around real operational needs
